Leonardo Leo, Solfeggi, (1750-1800). Manuscript preserved in Dresden: Sächsische Landesbibliothek.

info       title page
This manuscript contains 50 solfeggi by the Neapolitan composer Leonardo Leo and belongs to a group of three manuscripts containing a total of 129 solfeggi. These manuscripts are kept in the Sächsische Landesbibliothek in Dresden.
Solfeggi are vocal exercises, in Leo’s case almost always for a soprano. However, their outstanding style and beautiful melodies make them useful for instruments as well, especially if one is interested in learning and practising the Italian style of the late Baroque.
In view of the large number of solfeggi available, I have decided to publish randomly those that are better suited to recorders in any combination; hence the progressive numbers are purely editorial.
