info       title page

This collection of six sonatas has been thought to be an authentic work by Vivaldi for long time. Now we know very well that it is work of the French composer Chédeville, who composed these sonatas in Italian style, using in some cases themes taken from actual works by Vivaldi.

The first destination of this Chédeville opus is the musette (see here its image), a kind of small bagpipe played with bellows that has the same range of the treble recorder (F3 - D5). Often both instruments shared the same repertoire in the French music of the 18th century; hence these sonatas suits the recorder very well.
